Welcome to Biridi Organics

Our Story
At Biridi Organics, our journey began with a deep appreciation for the rich Bamasaba or Bagisu heritage and land endowed with exceptional fertile soil which produces high quality commodities such as maize, cocoa, Sipi and Bugisu Arabica coffee.
We are an authentic Gishu owned company encouraging/assisting local farmers to grow any of the four best Arabica coffee varieties such as SL 14, SL28, KP423 and KPIG2. These are the coffees that produce high quality yields which are more competitive on the global marketplace. We operate in communities nestled along the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda, which makes our coffee a specialty renowned for its unique flavored profiles and cultural significance. For wholesalers interested in gourmet products or premium coffee we recommend sourcing I00% organic Arabica beans.

Roots in Tradition
The Bugisu or Bamasaba's association with Arabica coffee dates to the early 20th century. Arabica plants were introduced from Ethiopia and have since flourished along the slopes of Mount Elgon, adapting uniquely to the fertile volcanic soils and high altitudes. This introduction led to the cultivation of what is now known as Bugisu Arabica Coffee. The Bugisu Arabica green coffee beans are some of the highest quality coffee beans grown in the world. One of the great coffee origin stories claims that Bugisu Arabica coffee is the only specialty coffee harvested from the oldest breast mountain Biridi Organics is proud to partner with 1800 coffee farmers from the Elgon Region.

Our Commitment
Inspired by this rich history, Biridi Organics is dedicated to delivering the finest hand-picked Bugisu Arabica coffee to the United States. As the first specialty Bamasaba owned coffee company in the United States, we import directly from our facilities in Lwaboba and work closely with local farmers, ensuring fair compensation and supporting sustainable farming practices. Each bean we offer tells a story of tradition, community, and a relentless pursuit of high-quality organic coffee.
Quality Promise
Bugisu Arabica plants thrive in high-altitude regions with ample rainfall and moderate temperatures. This produces coffee beans that are typically oval shaped with a curved crease on one side. Our secrete source is the cultivation process which emphasizes chemical free or organic farming, modern postharvest handling practices and bean quality, often being hand-picked to ensure only the best are selected

History
The Rich History of Ugandan Coffee Beans
Coffee introduction in Uganda as a commercial good was one of the strategies the British Protectorate Government sought in rebuilding its economy following World War II and enabling the new Ugandan protectorate to become self-sustaining. Robusta coffee was freely growing in the country, mostly used in traditional rituals. Arabica coffee was introduced in the country around 1900 from the Ethiopian highlands (Bourbon Arabica) by the French missionaries and Malawi (Nyasa Arabica), prior to the arrival of the British colonial masters in Uganda in the 1800s, by 1894 the locals where using Robusta as an energy booster for long-distance travelers and a substitute for cigarettes and a key component in traditional practices among the Baganda. The crop initially grew in the wilderness before interested farmers started picking seedlings that had germinated from fallen cherry and transplanting them to their gardens. This was mainly because of the significant role coffee played in their traditional and cultural ceremonies.

Sales and Commercial Sales
Sales
Biridi offers coffee in wholesale pricing and quantities for retailers that wish to sell our 16oz. and 12 oz bags. Our brand provides you with a unique opportunity to offer your customers a high-quality product that is socially conscious and provides for a greater good.
Commercial Sales
Biridi’s Bugisu Arabica coffee is processed in two types. WUGAR (washed Uganda arabica) and natural-processed DRUGAR (dried Uganda arabica) are the most widely available. Washed profiles at this level are often earthy and fudgy with little fruit or acid articulation. Consumers buy them primarily for their mouthfeel and bittersweet simplicity.
Naturals can have more heft and sweetness, but consumers buy them for similar reasons. These feature low differentials, mostly neutral cup profiles, and ready availability. DRUGAR grades are annually 50% of arabica exports in Uganda.
